This page explains what is stored on your device when you visit this site, and how to change it. The short version: nothing that tracks you is loaded unless you agree to it first, and you can change your mind on this page at any time.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device by a website. Cookies let a site remember information about your visit.
Cookies this site sets
None of its own. This site sets no cookies from its own domain.
Two things are stored on your device using your browser's local storage rather than
cookies: your light/dark theme preference (ml-theme), and your answer to the tracking question below (ml-consent). Neither leaves your device, and
clearing your browser's site data removes them.
Advertising — the Meta pixel
James advertises this tutoring on Facebook and Instagram. If you agree to it, the site loads the Meta pixel, a piece of code from Meta Platforms Ireland Limited. Its only purpose is to tell him which adverts actually lead to an enquiry, so he isn't spending money on ones that don't.
If you accept, the pixel records:
- that you visited a page on this site, and which page;
- whether you submitted an enquiry form;
- your IP address, browser and device type, which Meta receives automatically;
- a Meta cookie (
_fbp) set on your device to link those events together.
Meta may match this against a Facebook or Instagram account and use it for its own purposes as a data controller. What that involves is set out in Meta's privacy policy. This is the only tracker on the site — there is no Google Analytics and nothing else.
Nothing above happens unless you press Accept. If you reject, or if you
simply ignore the banner, no request is ever made to Meta and no _fbp
cookie is set. Rejecting changes nothing about how the site works for you.

Formspree
The enquiry forms are processed by Formspree. Formspree may set cookies on its own domain when a form is submitted. See Formspree's privacy policy for details.
Google Fonts
The site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google's servers. Google receives your IP address as part of that request. No cookie is set by this.
